The trees of the impressive Christmas Tree of The Ellinikon Experience Park find their new home.

Athens, 22 February 2022 The Ellinikon Experience Park opened its doors full of sparkle during the holiday season, signaling a new meeting point in Athens and a new way of life based on the communication between people and nature. All eyes were on the 17 m Christmas tree that adorned the Park and consisted of 180 real fir trees. As green growth and sustainability are at the core of the Ellinikon development, Lamda Development is donating the 180 trees to the Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Regeneration of the Pentelikon (SPAP), to be used in local parks and squares in the 12 Municipalities that form the Association.

The President of the Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Regeneration of the Pentelikon, Mr. Vlassis Siomos, stated regarding “We would like to thank Lamda Development for the donation of the trees to our Association. It is very promising that more and more people are becoming aware of environmental issues. These trees will have the opportunity for a new life in the Municipalities of the Association”. The 12 Municipalities that belong to the Association are: Maroussi, Vrilissia, Galatsi, Dionysos, Kifissia, Marathonas, Pallini, Penteli, Lykovrysi, Rafina-Pikermi, Artemida and Chalandri.

“The Experience Park is a Park for all. With this reasoning, the trees of our Christmas tree will find a new home and will adorn the Municipalities of the Pentelikon, making the daily life of our fellow citizens more beautiful. The message of sustainable development, which is a main axis of the Experience Park, but also of the development of the Ellinikon as a whole, is fully shared by the employees of the project, who will participate in volunteer actions that will be implemented in the near future”.

The Experience Park, which is part of the Metropolitan Park of the Ellinikon at the site of the historic Athens International Airport, is the first in a series of projects dedicated to the goal of a modern, environmentally friendly city that makes the lives of all citizens better, regardless of the community to which they belong. The 70-acre Park is home to 500 trees and 55,000 plants of Mediterranean varieties, while utilising “green” solutions to minimise its environmental footprint from the design and construction, to its operation. Large sections of the space have been preserved as well as the existing plants and trees, while materials from the works were reused to create elements such as paths and benches. A typical example is also the collection of rainwater in “rain gardens”, so that it can be used for the needs of the Park.

The Ellinikon Experience Park is open daily, from 17:00 until 22:00. Entrance is free of charge. The Park is accessible from Vouliagmenis Avenue and the entrance is very close to Elliniko metro station. For customer convenience, free parking facilities have been created at the Experience Park.

For the safety of our visitors, the relevant procedures and recommendations adopted by the competent health authorities are followed.
